Video: Nissan Leaf outraces a jet plane in a straight line

Nissan has posted a promotional video featuring a Nissan Leaf drag-racing against a jet plane on an even stretch of tarmac. The length was never specified, but as you can see, the electric hatchback gets a very brisk launch and manages to pull just barely ahead of the jet in the end.

The Nissan Leaf is one of the world’s best-selling EVs. According to the company’s own statistics, Leaf owners have traveled over 10,000,000,000 miles worldwide since the car’s launch in 2010 and thus prevented over 2,500,000,000 kilograms of CO2 from polluting the air.

The Leaf EV is currently available in the United States with two battery packs to choose between and corresponding starting prices of $27,800 and $35,800. It is also present in Europe and Japan.
