All-electric Nissan Leaf Nismo goes into production

The all-electric Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept was showcased at a car expo last year with no clear release plans voiced by the manufacturer. Today, it has been announced that the vehicle does make it into series after all.

Compared to the main Leaf series, the performance-packed Nismo variant has different, more aggressive-looking bumpers and diffusor. A representative of the brand explained that these parts have been thoroughly redesigned for optimal aerodynamics and downforce. The Nissan Leaf Nismo also features 18” designer wheels and special kick plate pads.

The interior is styled in black and grey. The seats, steering wheel, door panels, central tunnel and dashboard wear decorative elements and sport stylish red stitching.

The engineers have overhauled the technical aspect of the concept vehicle as well. The power wheel, gas pedal and stabilization have been reworked, and the shock absorbers replaced with better ones.

The EV is powered by a traction battery with 40 kWh capacity and a 150hp / 112kW strong electric engine.

Sales will initially begin in Japan. There are no estimated dates available for releases in other countries. When it reaches the market, the new Nissan Leaf Nismo is going to be priced at 35,500 USD and above.
