The Nissan Micra that you can see in our gallery and the video here is a standalone model, but its next generation will be produced by Renault and be mostly identical to the Renault Clio.
The fifth-generation Micra entered production at the Renault factory in France in December 2016. The compact hatchback shipped with 1.0-liter gasoline engines rated between 71 and 117 hp (53 – 87 kW) and a 1.5-liter diesel one with 90 hp (67 kW). Rumors said that it would come based on the CMF-B architecture, but it landed with an updated fourth-gen Nissan V platform instead. Now, the new Micra is finally making the long-awaited switch to CMF-B.
The 2019 Renault Clio ships with 1.0- and 1.3-liter gasoline engines rated between 65 and 130 hp (48 – 96 kW), as well as a 1.5-liter turbo diesel available in 85 and 115 hp (63 / 86 kW) variants. One last option is a hybrid powertrain called E-Tech, which includes a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine, a 1.2-kWh battery, an electric motor and a power generator. This one can make up to 140 hp (104 kW), and it uses a clutch-free transmission design.
