The Nissan Note should debut on official terms later this fall and go on sale before the end of the year. Following the first teaser that emerged way back in May (see video), we have seen handful of spy photos – and here’s yet another one.
The compact-sized car can be seen shedding its camo little by little, revealing LED-based DRLs similar to those of the electric crossover SUV Nissan Ariya. Interestingly enough, the prototypes we’ve seen earlier had different headlights and DRLs.
The radiator grille stays the same, though the badge is new, and the taillights are now horizontal. As for the cabin, digital dashboard and hovering infotainment display with a touch interface are the likeliest additions.
The Japanese spec will most probably stick to its e-Power hybrid powertrain, but it may land with a power boost. In case you didn’t know, the e-Power system incorporates a basic 1.2-liter gas engine that only serves as a power generator for the main electric motor rated at 109 hp (81 kW) and 254 Nm (187 lb-ft). The compact urban ride benefits from an AWD system that includes a rear-axle-mounted electric motor adding 4.8 hp (3.6 kW) and 15 Nm (11 lb-ft) of its own. Other than that, the more conventional 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine will continue to be available, as will its 98-hp (73-kW) turbocharged variant.
The 2021 Nissan Note will be unveiled this month or the next, and will go on sale in December. For the record, the current generation has been around for eight long years and received its last update in 2016.
