The Nissan Note Aura hatchback has received a performance version called the Nismo, and it has much more to offer than just eye candy.
The e-Power system stays the same, the 1.2-liter gasoline engine acting as a range extender for the main electric motor rated at 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) if torque. The company claims the Eco and Normal modes are more responsive to drive now, and a new preset named Nismo joins the list.
The suspension makes use of new shock absorbers and springs, ground clearance becomes lower, and the stock 17-inch wheels now come shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. A tie-bar was added just below the tailgate opening for extra rigidity, and steering and stability are said to have been improved. The drive stays on the front axle, although the standard Aura can be obtained in an AWD form with a second electric motor in the back.
Exterior highlights include new bumpers, sill extensions, and a spoiler. Found inside are black upholstery with red accents, a steering wheel with a 12-o-clock mark, and revised digital gauge graphics. The seats come wrapped in imitation leather and fabric, and you opt for Recaro buckets if you prefer those.
Sales will begin exclusively in Japan this fall starting from a rough equivalent of U.S. $26,200 – a considerable buff over the $23,700 of the standard Acura.
