Nissan has unveiled a short video ahead of revealing the next-gen Pathfinder SUV. You won’t be able to see the car in it, but the soundtrack hints that it still uses its old non-turbo six-pot.
The current-gen Pathfinder comes equipped with a VQ35DD engine good for 288 PS (284 hp / 212 kW) and 351 Nm (259 lb-ft) of torque. It remains to be seen whether the numbers will be revised in the new iteration.
The continuously variable transmission is likely there to stay, too, and we will probably get to choose between FWD and part-time AWD via a multi-plate clutch on the rear axle.
The exterior should undergo some serious transformations, while the interior with its digital dash cluster will strive to imitate that of the latest Rogue/X-Trail.
The Pathfinder enjoys a steady demand in the United States (around 60,000 units sold annually), even though sales took a dip to just 48,579 units in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The current generation can be had starting from U.S. $31,980. For comparison, the Honda Pilot costs $32,550 and the Volkswagen Atlas $31,555 in their most basic form.
