Spy shots of the next-gen Qashqai have already made it online a few times, including one pic showing the interior from a distance, but today’s photos reveal much more.
Overall, the interior reminds us of Qashqai’s larger cousin, the Nissan Rogue/X-Trail. Similarities include the digital dashboard, the air deflectors, the gear lever, the steering wheel and the hovering infotainment display with a few rotary knobs and hardware buttons.
The same Rogue/X-Trail theme can be seen on the outside – note the narrow LED-based DRLs, large headlamps and the V-shaped radiator grille.
The new Qashqai is going to gain size compared to its predecessor and go on sale in hybrid-only form. PHEV and mild-hybrid options are both promised, as we suspect that it might borrow Note’s e-Power system for the main spec: an electric motor on the front axle and an internal combustion engine used as a power source.
Nissan had to postpone the Qashqai production start from October 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Last we heard of it, the production was set to begin in Sunderland, Great Britain, in April 2021.
