Ready for Takeoff: Nissan Qashqai accelerates to dizzying 383 km/h

Severn Valley Motorsport, a British car parts store and customization studio, has showcased a heavily-modded Nissan Qashqai SUV with a monstrous 2,000-horsepower (1,500 kW) engine.

The record-setting race took place on the runway of the Kendrew Barracks military base airfield in England. The pilot managed to take the car all the way up to 382.6 km/h (just under 238 mph), thus setting a new world speed record for cross-country motor vehicles. The previous high score was held by a Toyota Land Cruiser which made 370 km/h (229.9 mph).

The Nissan Qashqai was retrofitted with the hi-end twin-turbo V6 Nissan GT-R engine for the race. SVM has expanded its total displacement volume to 4.1 liters and installed better fuel system pumps and turbochargers. By the way, the previous record holder had almost six liters of displacement room at its disposal.
