Nissan Rogue/X-Trail to get a 1.5-liter ICE option in the USA

The new Nissan Rogue (a.k.a. X-Trail) is currently only available in the United States, and the company announced at launch that it would only get a 2.5-liter four-pot rated at 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and 245 Nm (181 lb-ft). It now looks like another powertrain may be joining the list.

According to the information published by the U.S. Environmental Preservation Agency, the crossover SUV will additionally ship with a 1.5-liter engine under the hood. This one would link to a CVT box and offer a choice between a front and an all-wheel drive system. Mixed-cycle fuel efficiency is reported as 7.1 liters per 100 kilometers, or 33 MPG.

The sales of the 1.5L spec are expected to begin later this year.
