Remember the name Takata? The grand scandal involving their faulty airbags erupted in 2013, the company went bankrupt in 2018, but we are still dealing with the aftermath.
The infamous pyro-mechanical switch used in these safety devices has recently claimed the life on an owner of a 2006 Nissan Sentra. After investigating the incident, the automaker and the NHTSA teamed up to ask all owners of Nissan Sentra and Pathfinder cars, as well as Infiniti QX4 SUVs made between 2002 and 2006 to avoid driving them until a visit to the dealership for free replacement.
Around 84,000 vehicles are affected by the recall, the most recent ones whopping 18 years old.
