Video: 600-PS Nissan Silvia challenges a BMW M3 Competition

A stock BMW M3 Competition has recently hit the drag strip next to a tuned-up Nissan Silvia coupe. How did these two very different performance cars fare? Watch the video and find out!

If you would like to learn more about the contenders, then know that the S15-gen Silvia weighs in at a paltry 1,200 kg (2,645 lbs) and slams the asphalt with 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque through its rear wheels. It does so thanks to a new engine bored out to 2.1 liters of displacement and making use of a massive turbocharger. The gearbox is manual.

The M3 Competition takes advantage of a more up-to-date 3.0-liter inline-six engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It produces considerably less power and torque at 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft), and weighs substantially more at 1,730 kg (3,814 lbs). Having said that, it has a launch control system that pretty much guarantees an optimum launch regardless of the conditions.

We won’t spoil to you which one wins the race, but we will mention that the winner finished the quarter-mile run in 11.8 seconds and the loser in 12.6.
