Nissan has unveiled the 2019 spec version of its Skyline sedan/saloon, also known as the Infiniti Q50 in some markets. The scope of the update is quite large, but it is perhaps the new ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistant tech that warrants the most attention.
While not replacing the driver completely – not quite yet – the feature comes in handy when you feel like taking your hands off the steering wheel and relaxing for a few moments. Of course, you can only do so while driving in the same lane.
To activate the ProPILOT 2.0, you need to set a destination point in the navigator software and then select a specific route from several available options.
Interestingly, while Nissan lets you take your hands off the wheel, it still objects to taking your eyes off the road. If you do that, the car will issue a warning signal, telling you to focus on the traffic. If you fail to do so within the time limit, the smart assistant will turn on hazard lights and decelerate to a halt.
Aside from the ProPILOT 2.0, the new Skyline benefits from certain minor design enhancements. For instance, there is no missing the company’s signature V-Motion front grille.
Those willing to purchase a 2019 Nissan Skyline can choose among four versions: GT, GT Type P, GT Type SP, and 400R. The latter comes equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 400 hp (298 kW).
