Nissan Skyline gets Silvia S14 engine transplant

Few remember that the Nissan Skyline R34 had a four-door version. It was understandably less popular than the coupe and seldom received attention from tuners. Still, someone from the United States decided to break the mold and turn the obscure Skyline saloon into something special.

The project tackled both the exterior and the drivetrain. On the outside, there is no mistaking this R34 for any other thanks to a combination of a URAS GT body kit and a Cheetah Gloss Berry Blue wrap. The arches are flared, the hood and the side mirror caps are new, and the rear end flaunts a couple of aftermarket spoilers.

The wheels installed are 18-inch Work XT7 shod in Falken 225/40 tires, but the owner says he swaps them for 18-inch Gramlights 57DR rims clad in wider tires for track days.

Where things get truly interesting is under the hood. The stock engine is gone, replaced with a turbocharged four-cylinder mill transplanted from the Nissan Silvia S14. Thanks to an upgrade turbocharger and extensive drivetrain tweaks, the four-banger supplies 374 PS (369 hp / 275 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels through a five-speed M/T.

There is no video of the project so far, as the tuner says he is not finished with it. The nearest plans include installing a modern HVAC inside and adding a robust roll cage for safety.
