The next design iteration will see the Nissan Skyline transform from saloon into an all-electric crossover SUV, BestCarWeb reports referencing “insiders”. The car will allegedly be based on the Nissan Ariya platform (in the gallery below) and arrive in 2025.
According to these unofficial reports, Nissan had attempted to develop the next-gen Skyline multiple times, but ultimately realized that it would simply not do well as a saloon. As such, the decision was allegedly made to reimagine the model as an SUV running on electric power. As Ms. Asako Hoshino said in 2021, the Skyline badge would remain around even if the concept behind it changed.
By the way, there has already been a Skyline crossover: the Japanese version of the Infiniti EX37 wore that nameplate. As for the next generation, it could be partially inspired by the Infiniti QX55.
