Hercules Electric Mobility Inc. – a Detroit-based startup firm founded in 2018 – has shared new bits of information concerning its upcoming Alpha pickup. As it turns out, the custom car may get a cargo bed lined with solar panels.
The 3D renderings shown here actually depict no other vehicle than the Nissan Titan, modded to ride on quad electric motors mounted one per wheel for 1,006 hp (1,020 PS or 750 kW) total output. The developer claims the vehicle will be able to accelerate 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in under four seconds, max out at 120 mph (193 km/h) and cover 300+ miles on a charge (483+ km).
The truck is expected to have 1,134 kilos (2,500 lbs) of its own carrying capacity and be able to tow trailers weighing up to 5,670 kg (12,500 lbs). Hercules says it will handle exceptionally well, be able to make a standing turn , and refill its battery within mere minutes. Despite this, the truck bed – which has been designed by Canada-based Worksport to have collapsible walls – will be lined with solar panels for extra power generation.
The interior will allegedly make use of luxury trimming materials, but what you see here is merely a Photoshopped image of a Titan cabin.
Prices and availability dates aren’t being discussed yet, but Hercules is already taking pre-orders starting from U.S. $1,500. The company claimed early this spring that it had already amassed 1,800 pre-orders worth $27 million in total.
