Nissan X-Trail turns into an ambulance on tracks

Nissan has introduced another concept SUV based on the latest X-Trail. Dubbed the Mountain Rescue, it rides on snow tracks instead of wheels and is designed to assist in mountain rescue operations.

The chassis benefits from a number of aftermarket upgrades that increase the ground clearance by 23 mm (0.9”). Oddly enough, Nissan doesn’t mention the vendor of the tracks.

Further exterior modifications include towing eyes, wheel arch extensions, a winch and auxiliary lights. An extra light bar can be found on the expedition rack on the roof along with a stretcher, some skis, and snow shovels.

A peek inside reveals a custom space designed for carrying injured and wounded tourists. Instead of the rear bench seat, there is now a bed for the injured with a doctor’s seat nearby. The driver gets a GPS navigator and some radio equipment for communication out in the wilderness. An aerial scouting drone and an emergency toolbox are also provided.

Nissan premiered the Mountain Rescue at a ski resort in Italy.
