Nissan’s most powerful Patrol ever targets Middle East

When Nissan unveiled its Nismo-tuned Armada SUV in the United States, it simultaneously announced a similar tune-up of its Patrol counterpart for the Middle East region. It packs even more power than the Armada and is set to ship in July.

The 3.5-liter VR35DDTT under the hood now outputs 495 PS (488 hp / 364 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque at 3,600 RPM. There are no details on the tune, but it’s a healthy bump in horsepower compared to the original’s 425 PS and the Armada’s 460 PS. Tweaks were made in the nine-speed automatic transmission, and while the performance exhaust system may not be the loudest, you can turn on sound amplification via your multimedia speakers.

A true Nismo car, the Patrol for the Middle East commands recalibrated adaptive shock absorbers, revised steering and an optimized aero kit. Nissan claims it produces more downforce and less lifting force than ever while rerouting more air to the brakes, slowing their heat buildup by 6%. This new body kit makes the car 90 mm (3.5”) longer and 40 mm (1.6”) wider than stock, while the ground clearance goes down from 244 mm (9.5”) to just 195 mm (7.6”). 22-inch Rays wheels in the arches weigh 23% less than standard ones.

Like the U.S.-spec Armada Nismo, the new Patrol features a red-and-black interior trim with bucket seats, a steering wheel with a zero-hour mark and red safety harnesses. Aluminum and carbon-fiber trim details round off the look.
