Have a look at a rare go-kart inspired by Oldsmobile Aerotech

Bring a Trailer is auctioning off a go-kart produced in the distant 1980s stylistically based on the Oldsmobile Aerotech, a prototype racecar that set multiple speed records when it debuted. The bidding has been slow so far, with the best offer currently at $1,500.

Powering the car is a Briggs&Stratton single-cylinder engine rated at just 3 horsepower, which drives the rear axle. Its steel wheels measure six inches in diameter and are installed in the centerlock fashion. The driver’s seat is wrapped in vinyl and the steering wheel has a quick-release latch. On the whole, the go-kart looks typical for its genre in every respect except the bodywork (most have little to none).

The bodywork is there because the creator of the car was a fan of the Oldsmobile Aerotech. The original had gone through multiple body designs, changed dimensions and performance indicators as it was developed. It produced from 900 to 1,000 horsepower and set multiple speed records.
