The all-wheel-drive 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass restomod in a full-carbon body and kit is back to the track, racing against a drift-focused Volkswagen Passat this time around. Which one will you bet on?
Those of you who missed the last few episodes of “This vs. That” video series may be interested in knowing that the Passat is owned by none other than Tanner Foust, and is otherwise known as the Drift Taxi. It has precious little to do with the stock car anymore, and comes powered by a seven-liter LS7 V8 rated at roughly 850–900 hp (625–662 kW).
The vintage ride keeps up perfectly well, keeping the ‘vintage’ to a minimum in everything that concerns the powertrain. Aside from an all-carbon body, it packs an LSX V8 with the same displacement volume and 840 hp (618 kW).
