An auction will be held in January for what is being described as ‘the world’s last Oldsmobile 442’. The original 442 model was produced in 1964-1987, while this one is a replica from 1999.
Based on the Intrigue sedan, the car was built by General Motors for the SEMA show. It then went on to collect dust in the company’s museum, and was later acquired by car collector Joe Spagnoli.
Styling begins on the outside a different front bumper with certain elements inspired by the 1970s-era Oldsmobile 442. There is also a vented hood, a modest-sized rear wing, vintage wheels, and a special livery.
Power comes from a Cadillac Northstar V8 rated at 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW). In contrast, the original Intrigue shipped with 3.5L-3.8L V6 engines maxing out at 215 PS (212 hp / 158 kW).
There is no mention of a price.
The original Oldsmobile 442 also crosses the block every now and then. A top spec from 1970 with a V8 and 370 PS (365 hp / 272 kW) is on sale in Michigan right now for $139,900.
