OMODA expands presence in Middle East, launches C5 coupe-SUV

International automobile brand OMODA has announced an expansion in the Middle East region: the crossover liftback known as C5 is already available for purchase in Quwait and Qatar, with the UAE and Saudi Arabia set to follow suit soon.

On the exterior side of things, the OMODA C5 looks like a modern coupe-like crossover SUV. It has a few futuristic design traits, including a novel radiator grille with a 3D pattern, and rides on turbine-shaped wheels. Red accents on the side mirror stalks and some other parts like the splitter round off the sporty design.

Buyers get two engines to choose between. The base option is a 1.6-liter TGDI engine boosted to 197 PS (194 hp / 145 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission enables the car to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than 8 seconds.

Paying extra can get you a superior 2.0-liter engine with so far undisclosed parameters. A hybrid and an all-electric version of the C5 are in development with no availability dates yet.

Things are looking solid in the technology department as well, with adaptive cruise control, lane control, emergency braking, driver drowsiness alert and other modern aids on the list. The car also boasts the highest possible ANCAP safety rating – 5 out of 5 stars.

To ensure top service quality, the manufacturer has sprouted a branch in the UAE and is currently rolling out a network of its own service centers in the region. According to OMODA, localizing its presence in the Middle East will enable it to deliver a premium car ownership experience at an affordable price point.
