Omoda brings its E5 SUV to Europe

Chinese manufacturer Omoda has announced the coming of the E5, a fully electric counterpart of its C5 SUV, to the markets of Europe. Certain countries will receive it before the end of the year, with the rest set to follow in early 2024.

According to the company, market surveys have shown that around 50% of European car buyers opt for electric vehicles. Furthermore, the market of new energy vehicles has been growing by roughly 50% per year lately.

With 430 km (267 miles) of range and the opportunity to charge the battery from 20 to 80 percent in half an hour, the Omoda E5 looks fairly competitive on the Old Continent. In fact, the company ventures the opinion that it might become a sales hit there.

The powertrain specifics are still unclear. In earlier announcements, Omoda mentioned a single electric motor with 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW) that could take the E5 from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds. It didn’t clarify whether it was the only option.
