Official images of the 6th-gen Opel Corsa EV leak ahead of premiere

A mere couple hours ago, a French news website accidentally posted several official photos of the next-generation Opel Corsa hatchback. The photos were quickly deleted, but some users still managed to save them, so we may now look at the newcomer in its full glory.

The sixth-gen Corsa utilizes the CMP architecture originally designed by the PSA Group. It will ship in five-door body style only, with the three-door option no longer available. What is much more interesting, though, is the fact that the car you see here is a purely electrical vehicle.

The on-board tech is likely identical or similar to that of the Peugeot 208, which is based on the same platform. The latter came out with 136 hp (101 kW) under the hood and packed a 50 kWh traction battery rated at 340 km (210 miles) of range.

The more traditional engine options for the 208 included a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo ranging from 75 to 130 hp (54 - 97 kW), and a 1.5-liter diesel engine capable of 100 hp (75 kW). Transmission choices were 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, and 8-speed automatic.

As you can see, the cabin is predominantly dark and houses a digital instrument panel sitting next to a multimedia display built into the dashboard.

Dealers in Europe will start processing pre-orders for the Opel Corsa Mk.6 in the coming summer. Prices will be announced later.
