German car manufacturer Opel has released the first teaser image of its upcoming all-electric rally car, the Corsa-e, which it claims to be the world’s first vehicle of its kind.
The vehicle will participate in a number of professional motorsport events next year, the company reports.
The track-bound Corsa-e comes powered by the same engine as its road-legal counterpart (136 hp / 101 kW, 260 Nm / 192 lb-ft) and draws its power from a 50-kWh battery. It sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
According to Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller, the new Corsa-e is ideally suited for both professional racing and daily driving.
The company intends to release 15 more such vehicles in 2020, each priced under €50,000. The exact pricing remains undetermined, though.
