Reports: Opel Crossland successor underway to compete with Dacia Duster

Opel is working on a Dacia Duster rival that will slot into the automaker’s lineup above it current Mokka model and run on a more up-to-date platform, Autoexpress reports quoting Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz.

The new SUV will allegedly replace the current Crossland model and feel like a more modern version of it. Name-wise, it might end up with the nameplate ‘Frontera’, which Opel put on a body-on-frame SUV in the past. Unlike that vehicle, the new Frontera is envisioned as a compact crossover SUV designed as an alternative to Dacia’s Duster and Jogger models.

Details are scarce at the moment, but some conclusions can be made based on Hochgeschurtz’s earlier interviews and recent Opel premieres.

The Crossland successor is scheduled for debut in the first half of 2024.
