Opel has officially confirmed that every vehicle on its current lineup will get an all-electric version by the end of the current year. This means that the crossovers Frontera and Grandland will be getting these powertrains, too.
The automaker has shared an image showing its current electric vehicle lineup largely consisting of MPVs and LCVs. If you look closer, you will notice the two SUVs standing in the background with drapes over them.
Our assumption is that the Frontera Electric will be coming to replace the outdated Crossland model as a more spacious and practical seven-seater. It should be close to the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross in terms of powertrain specs and other technical aspects. Both are based on the Smart Car Architecture by Stellantis, a revised version of the CMP platform devised by PSA Group with Dongfeng.
As for the new Grandland, it is supposed to be related to the Peugeot e-3008 and the still-unannounced next generation of the Citroen C5 Aircross. Both are based on the STLA Medium chassis by Stellantis, a modern version of the EMP2. However, while the Peugeot is a high-riding fastback by design, the Opel Grandland sticks to a more classic SUV body style.
