Opel has introduced the second generation of its crossover SUV Mokka along with launch dates, powertrains and estimated starting prices.
First cars should appear in dealerships early next year, and both ICE and full-electric variants should be available from the start. Prices will begin from €19,900, or €32,900 if you want a battery SUV.
The newcomer sports drastic design improvements compared to its predecessor: there is a chrome bezel encasing the radiator grille and the headlights, a flashy bi-color paintjob and larger overall dimensions.
In turn, the interior is minimalistic and boasts a driver’s cockpit with two screens: a 12-inch digital dashboard and a multimedia display available in 7- and 10-inch versions. Paid options include Adaptive LED Matrix headlights, lane control, reversing camera, cruise control, massage-enabled driver’s seat, and a wireless gadget charger.
The EU spec will ship with two 1.2-liter gasoline engines rated at 100 and 130 horsepower (75 / 97 kilowatts, respectively) and a diesel rated at 110 hp (82 kW). Customers can choose between eight-speed automatic and six-speed manual for the transmission, but the entire momentum will be directed at the front axle no matter what.
The electric Mokka-e comes powered by a single motor worth 136 hp (100 kW) hooked onto a 50-kWh battery rated for 324 kilometers (202 miles) of range.
