Opel has announced the results of a design contest among students, during which the participants attempted to reimagine the Rocks-e model in a more dramatic light. Lukas Wenzhöfer, from the Pforzheim University of Design, won the competition with his work entitled ‘Rocks e-xtreme’. The car will actually be made, but it will be a one-off.
Wenzhöfer said his project was simply taking the features of the original Rocks-e and ‘dialing them up to eleven.’ The overlanding features he added were there to maximize mobility, while the sports car features were meant to bring driving enjoyment. Overall, the goal of the project was to demonstrate that going all-electric did not have to be dictated by common sense alone.
In addition to the above, the fancy EV boasts a widened track, new wheels shod in all-terrain tires and an external roll cage. It also sports rugged bumpers and a large rear wing with the project name and the number 001 on it.
Opel has actually decided to produce the Rocks e-xtreme, which will become an exhibit in the company’s own museum.
