Opel has unveiled the e-Xtreme Concept, a one-off build based on the Rocks-e urban subcompact submitted to a competition of students’ design projects in December 2022. The main prize was real-life implementation of the winning project.
Key differences from the original car include chassis and suspension upgrades, a wider track and large wheels shod in mud-terrain tires. The body received an external roll cage and a custom take on the Opel Vizor front end complete with new LED lights and the marque’s badge highlighted in teal.
Aside from its main function, the roll cage is also tasked with supporting a massive rear wing, which Opel took from the famous Vectra GTS V8 racecar that took part in DTM championships. Auxiliary lights slotted in under the windshield, and the company points out with pride that some of the elements were 3D-printed into existence.
The winner – Lukas Wenzhöfer – said the exterior of the finished car was as close as possible to his original project. Now that it is finished, Opel plans to send it on a tour to demonstrate the tuning possibilities of the miniature EV.
