Oracle Lighting, a company specializing in automotive lighting solutions, has unveiled an off-road van named Expedition Series. Riding on the Stewart&Stevenson M1079 light military vehicle chassis, it has everything necessary installed for long off-road trips and features a neon-lit, nightclub-like interior.
The company plans to use the unique ride for its own off-site events, but hopes that more prospective buyers will notice the illumination work and come up with lighting ideas for their own cars. That’s why the off-roader comes loaded with so many floodlights: there are some on the cab, more on both bumpers and more still on the roof rack, alongside two luggage boxes.
To feel at home where there are no roads, the LMTV rides on 46-inch tires with a pressure control system and has a winch rated higher than 8 metric tons (17,500 lbs). The 6.6-liter Caterpillar diesel under the hood is stock and still makes 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW) and 996 Nm (735 lb-ft) of torque with an Allison seven-speed transmission. The fuel system has been reworked, but that’s about it.
Inside, there are two sofas wrapped in leather and Alcantara, as well as an advanced audio system with a Bluetooth link. Ambient lighting all around caters for the abovementioned club vibes, and there is an actual bar with drinks inside. Air conditioning and added storage cabinets round off the list of modifications.
The driver’s cab gets a makeover, too. A 1,000W solar panel array on the roof provides a little bit of extra power for the equipment on board.
