Pagani reveals the Huayra BC Roadster, its ultimate challenge to date

Pagani has held an official reveal event dedicated to its new Huayra BC Roadster, the most challenging project in the Italian hypercar builder’s portfolio. The production run will be limited to 40 units priced at €3,085,000 each.

The structure of the car extensively relies on composites and other lightweight materials, like carbon fiber, titanium and even natural wood. To minimize the weight while maintaining the rigidity, the manufacturer had to design a brand-new monocoque cabin out of a next-gen carbon mix (carbon/titanium powder, carbon strands, and Triax). As a result, the open-top vehicle weighs 30 kilograms (66 lbs) less than its closed predecessor, despite all the structural reinforcements.

Powering the series is a Mercedes-AMG V12 mill fitted with two purpose-designed turbine chargers, four intercoolers, double throttle valve housings, and a Bosch ECU. The resulting output amounts to 800 hp (596 kW) and 1,050 Nm (774 pound-feet) of torque. The transmission is seven-speed sequential.

The Pagani Huayra BC Roadster rides on custom-tailored Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires measuring 20 inches across at the front and 21 inches at the rear. The tires can withstand acceleration loads up to 2.2 g. The wheels are forged aerospace-grade aluminum.

The aerodynamic kit of the open-top hypercar grants it 500 kg (1,100 lbs) of additional downforce at 280 km/h (174 mph). for the first time ever, Pagani has implemented a ‘blow-out diffuser’ tech in its car, which involves two catalyst-neutralizer pipes expelling the air from under the car bottom with added force.

The cabin greets with an opulent combination of carbon fiber, embossed leather and natural wood. The equipment list is equally luxurious and includes a nine-channel audio system and four-point safety harnesses, among numerous other things.
