Peugeot has launched the production of its compact SUV no. 2008 in Gurun, Malaysia, adding a new entry to that country’s existing lineup of the 3008 and 5008.
The small crossover is already in production in Europe and China. Peugeot says it has been driven for more than 200,000 kilometers (124,000 miles) in all kinds of weather and road conditions prior to the production.
The Malaysian spec is barely different from the European. The car comes with a digital suite called the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit 3D, which combines the dashboard with a 7-inch central touchscreen. Hardware controls are still present and styled like switches.
The car benefits from the latest version of the ADAS package, which includes a host of driver assists. In its Allure spec, it comes equipped with a 1.2-liter gasoline three-cylinder turbo mated to a six-speed automatic transmission for 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW). Buyers can choose from orange, grey, black and white for exterior color.
Pricing begins at €27,000.
