2023 Peugeot e-208 bows with increased range, slight power bump

Peugeot has given its battery-powered 208 hatchback a mild update focused on optimizing its powertrain parameters and driving range. Here’s what’s new.

The e-208 now comes equipped with the same electric motor as its big brother, the e-308. This means it now commands 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. The company does not specify any dynamic performance improvements, but they could be negligible – after all, the update only brings an extra 20 hp (15 kW) and no extra torque. The pre-facelift model sprinted 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 8.1 seconds, and the new one might just manage 8 seconds flat.

But this isn’t all. The traction battery capacity now amounts to 51 kilowatt-hours, extending the range by almost 11% to 400 km (248 miles). Replenishing 80% of the charge is possible within 25 minutes.

As you may remember, the e-208 already received another range boost of 22 km (13.7 miles) a year ago. The manufacturer achieved it via a new reduction box, a redesigned fuel pump and different tires.
