Peugeot has shared some photos previewing the next generation of its 3008 model from the outside and inside. The car will ship exclusively with electric motors at launch, but may get a hybrid alternative later. The specifics will be revealed tomorrow, September 12, during an online launch event.
Although the new 3008 looks like a coupe-SUV, Peugeot insists on calling it a fastback. It has a sporty body with a slanted roofline, a bezel-free radiator grille and slimmer headlight units with the trademark ‘tiger fangs’ for DRLs.
One of two spoilers at the rear end sits between the roof and the tailgate, while the other one is molded from the body itself.
The E-3008 will be the company’s first production car to take advantage of a new interior layout, which is called Panoramic i-Cockpit. Its key feature is a 21-inch hovering display that combines a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system screen into a single display unit. Another touchscreen resides on the center console and offers access to most in-car functions via configurable icons called i-Toggles. The automaker promises to use predominantly eco-friendly trim materials throughout.
Rumor has it that the Peugeot E-3008 runs on the STLA-Medium platform developed by Stellantis. If true, it may ship with three electric powertrain options to choose from and offer up to 700 km (435 miles) of range per charge.
