The second-gen Peugeot 308 received a mild facelift a couple of months ago, but the manufacturer seems to realize too well that the 7-year-old model requires much more than a nip-and-tuck to compete.
The latest test mule closely photographed on a track recently shows that Peugeot is taking its 308 in a very different direction. The body and the fang-shaped headlights look very much like something that may be ready for production, and the front end, while camouflaged, looks like that of the latest 3008.
The third generation is expected to arrive in 2021 based on the new EMP2 architecture. Aside from the usual estate/wagon and liftback options, customers will be able to opt for something “SUV-like”, according to reports.
The top specification will boast AWD and three motors joining their efforts for 360 hp (270 kW) total.
