The third generation of the Peugeot 308 is now officially here, although numerous leaks made it less of a surprise than the manufacturer had planned.
The styling is rather recognizable: there are headlights with integrated fang-like DRLs and a chic front grille that instantly remind us of the 3008 and 5008 models. Then there is a new Peugeot logo depicting a lion on a heraldic shield. The model name can also be seen between the grille and the sculpted hood. The taillights are shaped as lion’s claw marks and have a gloss black stripe connecting them.
Interior highlights include a digital dashboard with seven hardware buttons under a 10-inch multimedia screen. Atmospheric LED-based ambient lighting, wireless charging, a two-spoke steering wheel and a Focal audio system with 10 speakers are all provided as well.
Powertrain choices include 1.2-liter three-cylinders rated at 110 and 130 PS (108 and 128 hp; 81 and 96 kW), as well as a 1.5-liter diesel four-cylinder good for 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW). Two hybrid specs share an electric motor rated at 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW), a 12.4-kWh battery, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The lower spec has a gasoline engine rated at 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and the higher one has 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW). Their respective cumulative power output amounts to 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW) and 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW).
