Peugeot 308 reverts from digital to analog dash due to chip shortage

Stellantis Group has officially confirmed switching its current Peugeot 308 specs to using classical instrument gauge clusters instead of digital. The fallback is caused by the semiconductor shortage arising from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The company pointed out that only the current-generation cars planned for production in May would ship with old-school dashboards. Buyers in Europe will be offered a €400 discount.

Discontinuing the 308 digital dash option for the time being will enable Stellantis to free up enough microchips to use in the rest of its models. The full list is quite long and covers all PSA and FCA-controlled car brands.
