Peugeot 308 debuts as a wagon

Peugeot has introduced the hatchback version of its 308 model around a month ago, and now, its more utilitarian sibling hits the spotlight as well.

The exterior design is largely the same as that of the five-door hatchback, except for the roof and the rear end. The rear overhang stretches as far as 210 mm (8.2 inches), expanding the trunk volume from the original 412 liters (14.55 cubic feet) to 608 liters (21.47 cubic feet). You can also fold down the rear seat row to get 1,634 liters (57.7 cu.ft.) of luggage space.

Things carried over from the hatchback unchanged include LED Matric headlights, wheel sets, dual 10-inch displays and powertrains. Customers can still choose between two plug-in hybrid variants, one rated at 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW) and the other at 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW). Both draw their power from a 12.4-kWh battery sufficient for around 60 kilometers (37 miles) of all-electric driving.

Those who would rather go ICE can choose from two available petrol engines good for 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW) and 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW) and a diesel one with 130 PS. Transmission options are limited to six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic.

Sales are scheduled to start in early 2022.
