Peugeot 308 gets refreshed for 2026

Peugeot has updated its third-generation 308 lineup, landing both the estate and the hatchback with refreshed exterior and revised powertrains.

The hybrid in particular wound up with a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of the old Aisin 8AT, as well as a bigger battery. It now stores up to 17.2 kilowatt-hours of power (up from 12.4 kWh) and yields up to 85 km (53 miles) of WLTP-rated all-electric range.

The all-electric Peugeot E-308 also received a bigger 58.4-kWh battery pack that the company claims is good for 450 km (280 miles) of range as opposed to the pre-facelift model’s 415 km (258 miles). It retained its standard 156-PS (154-hp / 115-kW) motor. Charging from 20 to 80 percent still takes more than half an hour.

On the exterior side of things, the front fascia has been completely overhauled. The fang-shaped DRLs are gone, and the bezel-free radiator grille now cuts a much more aggressive frame thanks to an illuminated upper half. The Peugeot badge can also glow, but only as long as you opt for one of the top trims. The rear end and the interior stay largely the same, unless you count an overhauled digital dash UI.

Sales in Europe are expected to start this fall. Buyers will be choosing from two hybrids, one EV and one diesel powertrain. The 1.5-liter diesel still makes 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW), but you can no longer order it with manual transmission – only eight-speed auto. The entry-level hybrid spec now combines a 1.2-liter petrol turbo with a 48V motor built into a 7DCT for 145 PS (143 hp / 107 kW) total.
