Massimo Arduini turns Peugeot 308 GTi into racecar

Customized Peugeot 308 GTi vehicles are a rare sight on the street, even though the car series successfully competes with such renowned hatchbacks as the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Hyundai i30 N, Ford Focus ST, and Renault Megane RS. The Italian racing team led by Massimo Arduini has decided to remedy the situation by turning a Peugeot 308 GTi into a superb racecar.

The novelty begins on the outside. The front and the rear bumper have been reworked, the wheel arches expanded to incorporate custom-made 18-inch wheels, and a diffusor added. The stock “rubber” has been replaced with Michelin performance tires.

From the technical perspective, the Peugeot 308 GTi received Brembo performance brakes, new KW suspension, a better exhaust system, and an intercooler. The team has also boosted the car’s stock 1.6-liter turbo engine to nearly 300 hp (225 kW).

For the hatchback to feel at home on the racetrack, the team has stripped it of all equipment not strictly necessary for racing. This resulted in a car that weighed in at mere 1,155 kilograms (2,546 lb).

The total cost of the upgrade has not been revealed.
