Peugeot spruces up its 4008 model for China

There were times when the Peugeot 4008 was just a Mitsubishi ASX in disguise, but the modern model that sells in China is actually the EU-spec Peugeot 3008 with 55 mm (2.1 inches) of extra wheelbase. The European crossover went through a facelift not long ago, and its Chinese counterpart follows suit now.

The scope of changes is pretty much the same: new headlights, wheels and radiator grille, the latter bearing a model nameplate. New trim materials and an infotainment system with a ten-inch touchscreen are the only notable interior upgrades.

Powering the series is a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo four-pot rated at 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW) and 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) and its larger 1.8-liter counterpart capable of 211 PS (208 hp / 155 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. The former connects to a six-speed automatic gearbox, and the latter uses an eight-speed design. An AWD hybrid version with an electric motor attached to its rear axle will go on sale later.
