Peugeot has shared a couple of new teaser images showing a camouflaged Peugeot 408 for Europe. The car has an aerodynamic five-door body and should also be released in China, where an older 408 model is already available. The premiere will be held on June 22.
The company calls the new 408 ‘a dynamic fastback-style sedan with a slightly lifted stance.’ This could mean the model getting some soft-road upgrades while remaining a saloon. Then again, the automaker promises to ‘surprise’ us with it, meaning a coupe-like crossover is not entirely out of the question.
Production is set to begin this fall after a series of lab and road tests. Various test vehicles have already covered nearly 1.1 million kilometers around Europe, driven over asphalt, bumpy suburban roads, gravel and even shallow rivers.
The Chinese version of the 2023 Peugeot 408 will be called 408X, yet another hint that could be a crossover.
