Lego has added a new car replica to its Technic lineup. The toy set reproduces the iconic Peugeot 9X8 in a scale of 1:10 and comprises 1,775 parts. The sales will start on May 1, 2023 at $200 a box.
Peugeot Sport took part in designing the replica in January 2022, five months before the real hypercar even debuted before the public. In other words, it took a year to complete.
Once assembled, the car is roughly 50 x 22 x 13 cm large (19.5 x 8.6 x 5.1 inches). It has a functioning hybrid powertrain including a V6 engine and a seven-speed transmission. The suspension and the lighting all around work, too.
The actual Peugeot racecar was built to compete in endurance races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It became a successor of sorts to the championship-focused 905 and 908 models, which is referenced in the name. The letter X denotes a hybrid powertrain, and the digit 8 at the end is there for the same reason as with the marque’s street-legal cars.
