Italian automotive design firm Pininfarina, which boasts an extensive background of doing collabs with major automakers, has teamed up with Platum to launch the KPF Argento, a €599+ electric scooter it claims is “not just another” one of its kind.
The specs would have you believe otherwise, though. The two-wheeled ride has three drive modes called Eco, Normal and Sport. The first one is meant for use in populated areas and on sidewalks (when applicable), maxing out at 6 km/h (3.7 mph). Going for Normal hard-caps the acceleration at 20 km/h (12.4 mph), and only the Sport Mode unleashes the scooter’s true potential with 25 km/h (15.5 mph).
The thing is 835 mm (32.6 inches) tall and rides on an aluminum chassis with 20cm (7.8-inch) wheels. It features LED lights and a display showing the current speed and battery level. The battery pack runs dry after 40 km (25 miles) or so.
The manufacturer hopes that the Argento will ultimately evolve into a sub-brand for a whole lineup of electric means of individual mobility. The company is already working on an e-bicycle, hoping to release it next.
