Car tuner and designer Pininfarina will be producing 198 custom leather covers for the iPhone inspired by the unique Ferrari 512S Modulo Concept pieced together over half a century ago.
Co-designed with Inkar over the course of a few years, the covers fit the smartphones like gloves with their 0.1mm manufacturing precision. The company plans to produce 99 covers each for the iPhone 13 Pro and 14 Pro.
Buyers will be able to choose from five colors and two types of leather. Wood, leather, carbon fiber and aluminum will all be valid choices for decorative inlays, but only five covers will be produced in a silver finish with a red stripe iconic of the Ferrari 512S Modulo.
All prices remain to be announced. Pre-ordering will become possible on Thursday, December 1.
The Ferrari 512S Modulo Concept (see video) hit the spotlight in 1970 and raked in 22 assorted design awards. It drew its power from a five-liter V12 mated to a five-speed manual transmission. For the past eight years, the car has stood in the garage of James Glickenhaus.
