Automobili Pininfarina, a coachbuilder and part of India-based Mahindra Group, has announced putting Deutsche Telekom-branded equipment into its ultra-powerful Battista EV.
Apparently, the infotainment system modem will have a built-in SIM card with roaming permanently turned on and will therefore provide permanent Internet access in 50+ countries across the world.
Drivers will be able to update software in the car’s numerous units and components on the go, including even the engine and drivetrain. Remote functions will include opening and locking of doors, displaying charge percentage, and locating the car on the map. A smart troubleshooting system will be included to warn maintenance workers about any possible issues.
The Pininfarina Battista was unveiled last summer, armed with as many as four electric motors joining their efforts for 1,900 PS (1,874 hp / 1,397 kW) and 2,300 Nm (1,696 lb-ft) of torque. The Berlinetta-shaped vehicle could zap from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 1.9 seconds and exceed 350 km/h (217 mph) on a track. Its giant 120-kWh traction battery gave it up to 450 km (280 miles) of WLTP-rated range.
