Pininfarina Battista sets two new records

Automobili Pininfarina has posted the records its first production car – the Battista – set on the racetrack this weekend. The Italian hypercar sponsored by Mahindra & Mahindra from India actually managed to steal the steam from a car it was partly based on.

The record-breaking runs took place at the Natrax Raceway in India. The stock Battista coupe managed to do a quarter-mile drag strip run in 8.55 seconds. The previous best result of 8.582 seconds belonged to the Rimac Nevera, which featured a similar quad-motor electric powertrain rated north of 1,900 horsepower. Rimac designed the powertrain for the Battista as well, and the result surpassed its own previous best.

In addition to the quarter-mile result, the hypercar was able to cover half a mile in a record-short 13.38 seconds. Piloted by Ormazd Sorabji, it also accelerated to 358.03 km/h (222.5 mph), officially becoming the fastest car ever to race the Indian land.

Finally, another driver - Renuka Kirpaliani – managed to launch her Battista to 357.1 km/h (221.9 mph) and officially became India’s fastest female driver.
