A Plymouth Barracuda that its seller considered unique in multiple ways went up on sale and failed to attract the asking price of U.S. $2,750,000 despite being one out of only five such cabriolets made in 1971 (see video).
The full name of the model is Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda, which points to the fact that the car utilized a 426ci (7-liter) Hemi V8 rated at 425 PS (419 hp / 313 kW). The engine was linked with an automatic transmission. Per the seller, this cabriolet was the first one made in a series of five and also the only one to receive a white body paint along with a black leather cabin and an option package. The latter included a rare car stereo with a voice recorder function.
With only around 50,000 km (31,000 miles) under its belt, the car is relatively new. The last time it was sold at an auction was seven years ago, and the bidding had reached $2.3 million back then. The new owner proceeded to restore it to mint condition, making sure to preserve all OEM parts with serial numbers on it. Still, around 10% components are new.
