Polestar 1 culminates in Gold Edition before production end

The Polestar 1 hybrid is finally leaving the assembly lines for good after four years of production. To commemorate the model, the company will be issuing a collection-worthy Gold Edition.

All 25 coupes in this limited run will get the same matte-golden exterior finish with black wheels and golden stitching inside. Things will stay unchanged under the hood, and the production will stop before the end of the year.

The original Polestar 1 model (see video) shares its SPA platform with the higher-end Volvo models. Its body paneling mainly consists of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

The car utilizes a two-liter turbo-four mill with 308 PS (304 hp / 227 kW) to drive the front axle and dual electric motors to drive the rear one. A 34-kWh traction battery gives it up to 124 kilometers (77 miles) of WLTP-rated all-electric range. An eight-speed automatic transmission is used to convey up to 609 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. Going from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) is a matter of 4.2 seconds.

With the coupe sent to its retirement, the all-electric Polestar 2 liftback will remain the only model on the marque’s lineup. By early 2030s, the company hopes to revolutionize its production approaches to emit zero harmful substances to the environment at all production stages.
