The Polestar 1 Special Edition Coupe was the carmaker’s way of saying farewell to its first mass-produced hybrid sports car, and this one only has 200 km (124 miles) on the odometer to show for being a year old.
The Polestar 1 made its debut five years ago and came out in a series limited to just 1,500 units. After that, 25 Special Edition hybrids came out to send the model to its deserved retirement (see video).
The exclusive farewell series came with a matte gold exterior and 21-inch black wheels. Its interior was draped in grey Nappa leather with yellow safety belts and stitching.
From the technical point of view, the special edition was identical to the stock car. A 2.0-liter petrol engine received assistance from a supercharger/turbocharger combo and two electric motors connected to a 34-kWh battery to drive the wheels with 619 PS (610 hp / 455 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. EPA-rated all-electric range was a quite respectable 83 km (51 miles).
The original owner handed over $161,500 USD for the car currently on sale, which is reportedly in pristine condition. The bidding has so far reached $61,500, but there are still a few days remaining on the auction clock.
